The American television serial drama Lost is the brainchild of the head of then head of ABC Lloyd Braun.  Braun wanted a show that was a blend of several plots including those from the ‘Lord of the Flies’, the movie ‘Cast Away’, a popular video game known as ‘Myst’ and the television shows ‘Gilligan’s Island’ and ‘Survivor’.  Lost follows the adventures of a group of survivors of a plane crash who find themselves stranded on a mysterious tropical island.  Created by Damon Lindelof, Jeffrey Lieber, and J.J. Abrams the show is filmed on location in Oahu, Hawaii and first broadcast on September 22nd, 2004.

The American television show ‘Heroes’ was created by Tim Kring and first aired on September 25th, 2006.  Heroes chronicles the lives of a group of ordinary people who for some yet unknown reason discover that they have been given superhuman abilities and powers.  With millions of viewers in the United States and now millions more becoming fans from around the world, Heroes is becoming a global phenomenon.

NBC Universal has announced that a series of online content would be available for Heroes in the summer and fall of 2008 which would include new web content, wireless interactivity and webisodes.  Typically when a show or series of characters become this popular it is not long before what are called doujinshi in Japan or independent artists and producers, begin to created both satirical and hentai parodies of the characters of the show.  (more…)
